DEATHS AND FUNERALS

JENKINS

EATONTON, May 16 -- Alex B. Jenkins, a well-known citizen of Putnam county, died Tuesday night at his home here, after a very brief illness. His death was wholly unexpected to his family and friends, as he was on the streets apparently in his usual health several days ago. Pneumonia was probably the direct cause of his death. His wife, who was with relatives in Macon, was summoned home Monday, arriving a short while before his death. Mr. Jenkins was a member of one of Putnam's oldest and most honored families, and a graduate of the state university. In early life he married Miss Clara Prangling, by whom he is survived, together with seven children -- four daughters, Mrs. J. B. Daniel, of Griffin, Mrs. W. C. Wright of Macon, Mrs. Janie Jenkins Norris of Macon, Miss Annie Laurie Jenkins; and four sons, Louis Jenkins, Andrew and Prangling Jenkins, all of Eatonton; also one brother, D. L. Jenkins, of Atlanta. The funeral services, conducted by Rev. G. W. Garner, took place from the family residence Wednesday afternoon, after which the remains were interred in Pine Grove cemetery.
