OBITUARY
Died on Sunday last, after a long and painful illness, Mrs. Harriet E. Collins, wife of Doct. Robert Collins of this place.

To those, who, with the writer of this article, have shared for many years the friendship of Mrs. Collins, a recapitulation of those endearing virtues, which rendered her so eminently distinguished as a friend and a Christian, would be deemed superfluous; they are as enduring as life, and though the tomb must hide a once earthly treasure from their sight, she will yet live in many greatful memories, until they, too, pass to the silent sanctuary of the dead. In the kind offices of Christian benevolence, she had few equals. To the errors of the human heart, as well as to sickness and bodily affliction, she ministered in tenderness and mercy; and the poor, who received from her willing hand an unostentatious charity, will cherish her memory as one whose like they may never see more. But there are others to whom she was connected by yet tenderer ties, whose loss and whose grief, vain would be our purpose to depict. Their only consolation must be that their loved Harriet had passed from her earthly sufferings to a world where her happiness shall be as unceasing as her virtues.
In hearts alone where virtue shines,
Where Hope, Faith, Charity combine
To light the Soul in bright array;
'T is these shall lead its onward way,
Through regions to the Faithful given,
Where dwells the ceaseless joys of Heaven.
M.
