CHILD SLAIN IN TRUCK COLLISION

Joseph Douglas Greene, aged 6, Almost Instantly Killed.

COLUMBUS, Ga., Oct. 9. -- Joseph Douglas Greene, 6-year-old son of Maj. D. T. Greene, student officer of the infantry school at Fort Benning, was run down early tonight and almost instantly killed by a truck driven by Roscoe Chester, negro. The little fellow, according to information obtained from the authorities, was trying to run across the street when he was struck by the truck, in the Wynnton residence section.

The body will be taken to West Point, N. Y., for funeral and interment. For the past four years Major Greene has been connected with the department of tactics at the United States Military Academy at West Point. He and his family have been in Columbus only a month. The little boy died en route to the city hospital in an automobile.

NOTED UNIVERSALIST MINISTER IS DEAD
Birmingham, Ala., June 29. -- Dr. Chas. Henry Charles Rogers, one of the most widely known Universalist ministers in the country and for 30 years grand master of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Kansas, was found dead in his bed at Camp Sill, Ala., this morning. The body was sent to Hutchinson, Kans.

TWO GO TO THE CHAIR IN SING SING PRISON

Charles H. Rogers and Angelo Laudiero to Be Executed.


Ossinning, N.Y., July 19. -- Two murderers will pay the penalty of their crimes in the electric chair at Sing Sing prison here tomorrow. The double execution, it is expected, will take place early in the morning. The doomed men are Charles H. Rogers and Angelo Laudiero.

Rogers will be executed for the murder, on October 6, 1905, of Willis and Fred Olney, Orange county farmers, and Alice Ingerick, nine years old, daughter of the housekeeper on the Olney farm near Middletown.

Laudiero, the other condemned man, killed Michael Deambro in New York City on December 14, 1906.

MRS. EVA BAUGHMAN IS DEAD OF BURNS
SAVANNAH, Ga. Dec. 12 -- Mrs. Eva Baughman, of Millhaven, died Friday morning in a local hospital of burns received Thursday while visiting the home of Mrs. Frank Dotson, at Pooler. Her dress caught from a fire in an open grate fireplace. She was brought to Savannah for treatment.
